Office of the Associate Dean, Clinical Affairs

Greetings from the Office of the Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs, COP- KSAU-HS

Of no doubt, pharmacists play a vital role in any health care institution through providing a high standard centered patient care. The demand for a competent pharmacist in Saudi Arabia has increased due to the recent dramatic changes in the health care system.

Despite new school founded in 2010, our College of Pharmacy (COP) – KSAU-HS seeks to be a national leader in the pharmacy education that provide the health care job market with qualified and competent pharmacists.  Toward this goal, we develop a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) curriculum that is based on the concept of “learner-centered approach” education. From the first professional year in this curriculum, the theory and practice are integrated and aligned through all lectures, case discussions, laboratory sessions and field experiences.  True, today the students have more college of pharmacy to choose than ever before, but COP- KSAU-HS is distinguished from others by regular reviewing the curriculum to ensure that the theoretical and experiential parts offer the most up-to-date learning and relevant training to meet the needs of healthcare industry.

The distinctive flavor of our curriculum is the continuous experiential pharmacy education that begins in the first  professional year. Division of clinical affairs provides visionary leadership of clinical practice for the college of pharmacy by developing and maintaining  a mutual relationships with internal and external partners. The division manages and coordinates all experiential training in the pharmacy curriculum.

During the first three  professional years, the students will complete five Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPEs) courses before they start their Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPEs) during the fourth year. Both IPPEs and APPEs introduce to the students, in a step wise manner, to different patient care environments including institutional, community, acute care, ambulatory care, in addition to governmental and  manufacturing.

As an Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs, I encourage all students and their families to explore COP website to learn about our innovative PharmD Program. They also welcome to visit our campus to meet me or any of the faculty members in case you have any question of concerns.
